Commissioned by zzz, sketchedSPACE conceived Chris Shen’s Spectras installation series and applied at a disused parking office of PKM Gallery. The space doubles as a curated library and zzz’s showroom space.
Spectras is a series of artworks and installations that present duality and transitions of choice categorised by the colours red and blue. Each screen-sized tile reflects on opposition within the cultural landscape, framing our sources of information and opinions.
When the viewer's position changes, each individual tile randomly flips between the solid colours red and blue. The size of each tile representing a common screen size (16:9) to present mass opinions and viewpoints of a given topic. Red/Blue were chosen as generic representations of opposition that can exist within everyday society and across multiple cultures. There are many examples of these colours providing pivotal and trivial choices alike from drinks, sport teams and political biases.
