sketchedSPACE collaborated with Vogue Korea in creation of their January 2019 issue’s cover and exclusive feature of London-based artists Coco Capitan and Frances Wilks.
Vogue Korea’s first issue in 2019 presents Coco Capitan and Frances Wilks known for their multidisciplinary practices across painting, photography, and installation. Produced in two different versions, this cover depicts the two artists in hanok (traditional Korean house), preserved throughout the country’s dynamic history. Dressed in Gucci F/W 2018 collection mixed with traditional Korean garments, the artists created and captured an aesthetical intersection of eastern and western cultures to emphasize artfulness as a global language.
In addition to their ambitious art making, their identity as a part of LGBTQ community signifies progress as this feature happens to be Vogue Korea’s first ever cover with same-sex couple.
